KNSI- Police have arrested a 32-year-old woman after she was pulled over for driving drunk while on her way to pick up her sister, who was already in jail for DWI.
Sartell Police said around 2:00 Sunday morning they stopped a car, on River Ave South, and found Erica Stang of Sartell behind the wheel, and under the influence of alcohol.
Police said while speaking with Stang, the officer learned that she was on her way to the Stearns County Jail to pick up her sister, who had just been arrested by Stearns County for DWI.
Stang was taken to the Stearns County Jail pending charges for 2nd Degree DWI.
Her car was also seized for forfeiture.
Lock her up! Throw away the key! Nope, I am not talking about the sister that was driving to get her irresponsible sibling from the slammer. She's not the guilty party here. Okay well, she's a little bit guilty for getting behind the wheel intoxicated, but did she really have a choice when her sister wasted (no pun) her one call on her? They need to double up on the dewwies for the original sister, because not only is she a drunk driver, but she's a drunk driving enthusiast. I mean, 2AM on a Saturday night? Of course she knew her sister was hammered. Hell, I don't want to make any rash assumptions, but I would say there's a pretty solid chance they were pulled over coming from the same damn bar. As if it wasn't bad enough that she chose to drive after too many cocktails she then pleaded with her sister to do the same?
The fact of the matter is this. We are supposed to do outrageously dumb shit when our family is in trouble. However, it's our family's job not to put us in a position where outrageously dumb shit is necessary. I think driving TO THE POLICE STATION shit-faced fits neatly into the 'outrageously dumb shit' category, but let's not forget whose stupidity made this whole situation unavoidable. The only thing Erica Stang is guilty of is loyalty, but since that whole 'driving while intoxicated' charge has to go on somebody's record then they might as well add it to the rap sheet of the girl that tried to take advantage of her loyalty. You know, the girl that had a major hand in two DWI's in less than an hour. She's the one that doesn't respect the law, not the girl that prioritizes her kinfolk over it.
