Can't. Look. Away. Jesus Christ, will someone get that kid out of there?! I can see his spirit dying with each soul crushing second. Will someone put their phone down and carry him off the field. I promise there will be plenty of footage floating around school. I see like ten videos taken place in this shot alone. The kid is numb with embarrassment and you are just going to let him stand there? The video was 30 seconds long and it felt like a half hour. When he said "what?" I wanted to close my own curtains and hide from the world for him. I watched this video like 5 minutes ago and I still feel uncomfortable. 

Hey, this is the risk you run when you try to make a huge gesture. There's no middle ground between it being a smashing success and an abject failure. Although, one would think that this kid would do a little research before he put his heart on the line in front of the entire school. Step one of doing a mic'd up proposal is making sure she doesn't have a date. Then again, I suppose that the girl could have softened the blow of saying 'no' and lied about her imaginary escort.

Do people say yes or no to prom anymore based strictly on liking or disliking someone? I guess what I am asking is does the gaudiness of the prom-posal factor into the answer? Back in my day you just knew the answer was based on you as a person. If the answer was no you felt like bag of shit, but you needed that shot to the gut to realize that life sucks sometimes. I feel like when a girl says no now the guy just gets mad at himself for not having a good enough proposal. Like "damn, if only I wore my suit and brought a candle she would have said yes". No dude. The theatrics were fine, it's you that sucks.
