NY Post- Murders are way up so far this year in Manhattan, The Post has learned.

Sixteen people were killed around the borough between the first of the year and Sunday. Over the same period last year, the figure was 11. That’s an increase of about 45 percent.

Shootings in the borough have also soared.

There have been 50 “shooting incidents’’ since Jan. 1, compared with 31 in the same time period in 2014 — an increase of about 38 percent. Some of these “incidents’’ involved more than one victim.

Let's play a little game. You're in, right NY Post? You've been playing with words all morning anyway. We shall call this game, "What Does This Headline Mean To You?". Ready, first headline, "You’re 45% more likely to be murdered in de Blasio’s Manhattan". Now to me that would mean that the average New Yorker stands nearly a 50% chance of dying this year. You figure if last year the average New Yorker stood about a .2% chance of getting killed then a 45% increase would put you right around 45.2%. Jesus, who knew crime had gotten so bad in Manhattan. I didn't even know there was a discernible difference. A 45% increase must mean there's like a million people dying per day. Talk about a media coverup. Sweet Baby Jesus, pray for the Big Apple. Look to your right everyone, one of you isn't going to survive the year.

What's that? This increase is based off of an increase of 5 dead people over a 5 month span? Out of millions upon millions? I think that whole "45% increase" thing might be a little thing we call 'click bait'. Come on New York Post. Be a real publication one time in your life. The difference between 16 dead people in a borough and 11 dead people in a borough is like two or three bodega heists gone wrong. Let's not turn this molehill into a mountain. If one person died taking a shit last year, and two people died taking a shit this year, it means there has been a 100% increase in shitting deaths. It doesn't mean I have a 100% probability of dying when I cleanse myself of the long weekend. Society has enough to worry about without a bunch of pissed off New Yorkers thinking that anarchy is upon them. The last thing the morally corrupt souls of the empire state need is to think that the purge is an actual, legitimate phenomenon. The best way to increase the murder rate is to have a bunch of narcissistic dickheads thinking it's kill or be killed out in the streets. People are bad enough as is, we don't need to play with numbers to make us look worse than we are.
