That picture is the perfect ending to Byrd's season. The man that was supposed to improve a top 5 defense from last year is done for the year. I guess it doesn't make much of a difference. He still wasn't fully engrained in Rob Ryan's system after missing the entirety of the preseason.
The good news is this can't possibly make the defense any worse. I mean, they can't stop anybody anyway, what's the difference? Maybe they can return to last year's form. Probably not, but maybe. Rafael Bush should get some more snaps which is encouraging given his flashes of potential last season.
Regardless, this team isn't going anywhere unless they can bring the consistent pass rush they brought last year. They also need to find a suitable #2 corner opposite Keenan Lewis. Really though, no one is doing their job and the season is slipping away quickly. This Byrd injury is just icing on the dog shit cake.
All is not lost though, we got Tampa Bay at home on Sunday and that could be the answer to our woes. Improve to 2-3 and hit the ground running after the bye week…..or lose to Tampa and start looking forward to the fucking draft.
Either way….Who Dat!?!
