Daily Hype- A mother in Cleveland is facing child endangering charges after police say she tried to sell her 10-month-old daughter.
Elizabeth Gayton, 25, attempted to sell her youngest daughter not once but twice to a family member for $500, Cleveland court documents said. After the second attempt the relative called police, who arrested Gayton. During their investigation, Cleveland police learned she abandoned one of her other children on April 25. That time, Gayton left her 2-year-old with a person she met the day before, according to the arrest warrant. She has been charged with kidnapping and child endangering and remains in jail, pending another hearing. There is also an arrest warrant out for the baby’s father, 27-year-old Corryaune Paige. He is accused of threatening to stab Gayton and kill their 10 month old daughter. At first I was going to criticize this woman for completely throwing off the market value for new born babies. You know how many rich, infertile motherfuckers are out there looking for a child? Asking for $500, to undoubtedly pay her rent in whatever Cleveland slum she's calls home, is shortsighted. Dare I say it considering the other circumstances surrounding this story? It's flat out irresponsible. Then I learned that she tried to sell the child to a family member. Biggest mistake you can possibly make. Probably even more so then trying to sell your kid in the first place. No one has ever gotten fair market value when trying to sell something to a friend or family. You are required to give the sentimentality discount. There are families that don't talk anymore because one party demanded fair compensation and the other party felt slighted. Furthermore, I'm under the pretense that the relative has met said child before. All babies are glorified before you meet them. All babies are adorable until they puke on your shoes. You can't be flaunting the merchandise if the merchandise isn't all the desirable. That's why people spend hours taking the perfect picture of their items before they post them on Ebay. If they just took a picture of it sitting in the back of the closet crumbled up like it usually is it would get 0 bids. Everyone is naive to the thought that a baby could just be a whining, crying, puking, shitting mess of a human being until they see said child do those very things. Can't imagine the last 10 months of this child's life have been very productive to it's growth, especially with this broad as it's mother. Buying this child would be like paying for a dresser that's missing half a leg. You don't purchase something that's broken without the means to fix it. Especially when all it takes is a little hard work and some unprotected sex you could just have your very own kid that hasn't been ruined by a year of terrible parenting.
